    NVAR Ethics Complaints by the Numbers (2018 to 2023)*

    What conclusions can NVAR members draw from these numbers? One trend that stands out is that NVAR has received fewer complaints – especially in the first six months of 2023. Is the current real estate market causing this drop? Are Realtors® more professional? Meaning, are there fewer issues to report? Is there not enough awareness about the available dispute resolution processes? Feedback from NVAR’s volunteer leaders tells us that fewer complaints are likely a result of a combination of these factors.

    New Look Coming to Historic Fairfax

    Commercial development has updated much of Fairfax County’s landscape during the past 50 years, but “Old Town,” the heart of Fairfax City with its historic charm, has remained largely unchanged. Attempting to guide the future of Old Town, city officials adopted the “Old Town Small Area Plan” in June 2020, expanding on the historic downtown’s unique historical character to create an attractive, walkable, cultural destination. If plans currently being considered by city officials are adopted, they may bring a new look to old town.

    Exploring the Leadership Institute's Field Trip to Virginia Realtors®

    The 2023 Leadership Institute Class of NVAR (Northern Virginia Association of Realtors®) embarked on an exciting field trip. As the first Field Trip of 2023, this journey took us to the Glen Allen Office of Virginia Realtors®. The trip was filled with enlightening experiences, including an awe-inspiring office tour, volunteering opportunities, and engaging discussions with VAR leaders and key staff members who shared valuable insights about the advantages of Virginia REALTORS® membership.

    New Laws 2023 – What You Need to Know for July 1

    During the 2023 General Assembly Session your lobbying team from NVAR and the Virginia Realtors® along with your Public Policy Committees stayed extremely busy and proactive to be the voice of real estate in Richmond. The Statewide Realtor® Agenda passed with unanimous support with a total final passage of 1,415 “yes” votes and 0 no “votes”! We did have one bill continued to study, but stay tuned for more action on Short-Term Rentals in the future.
