Byron Smith, Sr., CCIM, Esq., is President at Metropolitan Realty Group, Inc. in Vienna, VA.  He has over 43 years of commercial real estate experience and has been a real estate investor, attorney and real estate broker in the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia real estate markets. He has served as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as well as a real estate attorney for the law firm of Melrod, Redman & Gartlan in Washington D.C

Smith has been a CCIM Institute instructor since 1994 and has also educated commercial practitioners throughout the world including China, Russia, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, the U.K., Canada and Poland.

Lorenzo M. Wooten Jr., CCIM, is a Senior Associate with Marcus & Millichap in Bethesda, MD, focused exclusively on representing sellers and buyers of investment properties throughout the Washington DC metro area. Lorenzo and his team have successfully completed numerous transactions across all commercial product types including mixed-use, multifamily, land for development, and church sales. Lorenzo has continuously managed complex transactions such as zoning variances, challenges with TOPA, tenant issues, and providing financing solutions for his developer clients. Lorenzo’s relationships, knowledge of the market, and fourteen years of experience in commercial real estate sales have made him one of the top agents in the area.

Jerry Dawson is a results-oriented leader with demonstrated success in leading teams in highly competitive markets. Since 1998, he has worked with clients to solve commercial real estate challenges. His demonstrated ability to understand needs and tailor strategies towards a common goal has resulted in successful real estate transactions for government agencies, Fortune 500 clients, non-profits organizations, and real estate investors.

Jerry began his commercial real estate career with LaSalle Partners (now JLL), where he spent nine years providing transaction and real estate advisory services for corporate and government clients in various capacities. His client engagements included work with Xerox, EDS, VeriSign, U.S. General Services Administration, Aon, and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. Following his time with JLL, Jerry spent six years with Duke Realty Corporation, a publicly-traded national real estate investment trust. There he served as vice president for Government Solutions Group where he led more than $1.5 billion in federal real estate development and leasing projects.

Karen Smaw leads the efforts at Fairfax County Economic Development Authority to support small and minority businesses.

Smaw is noted throughout Fairfax County for her “Starting a Business” workshops which educates thousands of entrepreneurs on the benefits and opportunities of starting and growing a business.  Since 2003, these workshops have assisted over 3,000 business persons and entrepreneurs. The SBA, the Community Business Partnership, and the Virginia Department of Business Assistance are partners in the workshop series.
