NAR’s Code of Ethics was adopted in 1913. It was one of the first set of ethical rules standardized and adopted by any business or group. It ensures that Realtors® work with each other and their clients in everyone's best interests involved.
Current Realtor® members must complete two and a half (2.5) hours of ethics training every three (3) years.
Realtors® who have completed the required ethics training within a three-year cycle in one association will not be required to complete any further training for that same training cycle if the Realtor® decides to become a member of another association.
If you have completed a Code of Ethics course at a school other than NAR or NVAR, please email your Certificate of Completion along with your NRDS number to membership@nvar.com
If you have completed a Code of Ethics course through NAR's online portal on their website, you do not need to email NVAR your certificate. It will update automatically. Please note: it will take approximately 24 hours for NAR’s website to update.
*Please note a Post-Licensing Ethics course does NOT count toward your Code of Ethics training.
