While most media attention is focused on the 2020 presidential election, 2019 remains a critical election year in the Commonwealth.

All 140 members of the Virginia General Assembly are on the ballot this year and control of the House of Delegates and Senate hangs in the balance. Republicans have a 21-19 majority in the Senate and 51-49 majority in the House. During the 2017 elections, Democrats gained 15 seats in the House.

On the local level, long-term incumbents are stepping down in 5 of the 10 seats on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Two seats on the Arlington County Board are also up for election.   

Each year the NV/RPAC Trustees, a group of dedicated Realtors®, evaluate candidates for office based solely on their positions on real estate related issues. The candidates below were chosen by fellow Realtors® based on their support for our legislative priorities, not on their political party affiliation. This selection process requires the NV/RPAC Trustees to review voting records and past positions taken by incumbent candidates and to conduct interviews and review questionnaires answered by challengers for each of the offices on the ballot.
