About Realtor® Advocacy

Your Realtor® advocacy team ensures that our members’ voices are heard as decisions are made about the laws and regulations that shape our industry.

Through NVRPAC, NVAR is able to advocate on the local level, ensuring that the interests of Northern Virginia Realtors® are known to lawmakers and representatives and that the magnitude of Realtor® impact on Northern Virginia's economy and communities is recognized. NVAR collaborates with Virginia REALTORS® to advocate in Richmond, along with the National Association of REALTORS®, located steps away from the United States Capitol.

Together, we also advocate on behalf of the consumers — representing the interests of homebuyers, sellers, and renters, and the commercial tenants who are directly impacted by changes in things like affordability, taxation, and ordinances.

About NVRPAC

RPAC

The REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) has promoted the election of pro-Realtor® candidates across the United States since 1969. The purpose of RPAC is clear: voluntary contributions made by Realtors® are used to help elect candidates who understand and support their interests.

These are not members’ dues; this is money given freely by Realtors® in recognition of the importance of the political process. The REALTORS® Political Action Committee and other political fundraising are the keys to protecting and promoting the real estate industry.

NVRPAC results in meaningful local Realtor® advocacy wins such as the passing of Virginia Realtors® Health Insurance Legislation, Federal Homeowner and Rental Assistance Funding, and more.

by Danielle Finley, Associate Director of Political Engagement

We are proud to recognize four members of the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors® (NVAR) — Jonathan Coles, Michelle Doherty, Roger Nakazawa, and Tom Stevens — for achieving one of the highest honors in Realtor® advocacy: induction into the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) Hall of Fame at the $25,000 level. A special recognition to Tom Stevens for completing his fourth milestone, reaching $100,000.

These milestones reflect not only a substantial personal investment in protecting and promoting the real estate industry, but a deep and sustained commitment to advocacy on behalf of Realtors®, property owners, and communities across the country.

What is the RPAC Hall of Fame?

The RPAC Hall of Fame was created by NAR to honor the most dedicated major investors in RPAC. These individuals have reached lifetime investment milestones that place them among the most influential advocates for Realtor® issues at the local, state, and national levels.

The $25,000 level signifies a career-long dedication to supporting RPAC’s mission of electing and engaging pro-Realtor® candidates, advancing property rights, and defending the future of the profession.

Recognition of a Lifetime

Jonathan, Michelle, Roger, and Tom will be officially honored at the 2025 REALTORS® Legislative Meetings (RLM) in Washington DC on Monday, June 2, 2025. This annual event brings thousands of Realtors® together to engage directly with lawmakers, and it’s a fitting venue to celebrate such an extraordinary commitment to Realtor® advocacy.

In addition to this special moment, their names will be permanently enshrined on the rooftop terrace of the NAR building in Washington DC — a place where Realtor® leaders from across the nation gather to look out over the Capitol and reaffirm their commitment to shaping housing policy. This lasting recognition cements their legacy as champions for our industry.

A Legacy

The impact of their contributions will be felt for generations. Because of leaders like Jonathan, Michelle, Roger, and Tom, Realtors® have a stronger voice in the halls of power. Their investments help ensure that the real estate profession remains protected, respected, and equipped to thrive in an ever-changing political landscape.

Please join us in congratulating our 2024 RPAC Hall of Fame inductees — and thanking them for all they have done and continue to do for the Realtor® family.

Congratulations to all four Hall of Fame Inductees!
