Presenters

Regina Pinkney

For the past 18 years, Regina has dedicated herself to helping under-served segments of our community to attain affordable and sustainable homeownership. Working in the mortgage industry, beginning in 2002 at 1st Mariner Bank and then starting in 2009 at Union Mortgage Group, she developed relationships with housing agencies and non-profits in Northern Virginia to educate and empower families with low and moderate incomes families by providing individual credit education, homebuyer education classes and highly specialized financing. As a senior loan officer, she has assisted in every facet of loan origination. For 10 years in a row, she was one of the Virginia Housing Development Authority's top-producing loan officers.  

Since April 2017, Regina has worked for the Virginia Housing Development Authority. In that capacity, she meets regularly with loan officers and real estate professionals all over Northern Virginia, to educate and assist them with VHDA's mission of helping Virginians attain quality affordable housing.

David Schneider 

David I. Schneider is a land use attorney in Holland & Knight's Tysons office. Mr. Schneider focuses his practice on land use and real estate development where he assists developers and landowners in a wide variety of land use entitlements in jurisdictions throughout Northern Virginia. He effectively and strategically advises clients to help secure rezonings, special exceptions, comprehensive sign plans, special use permits, variances and comprehensive plan amendments. Mr. Schneider's experience includes mixed-use and transit-oriented development (TOD) near metro stations, senior housing and infill development. He also provides a range of experience advising purchasers, sellers and lenders in land use feasibility studies and due diligence. 

Mr. Schneider adds value to clients' development projects with his holistic and creative approach to land use. From initial feasibility to final approval, he provides timely and cost-effective advice to maximize development potential while navigating the interpersonal aspects of development in this region. As a native of Fairfax County, Virginia, Mr. Schneider takes pride in helping the Northern Virginia region evolve through smart development. 

Kanesha Brown 

Kanesha Brown’s journey to the development industry is one of resilient, perseveres and tenacity. Fueled by her childhood experiences living in a blighted community, she committed her career to revitalizing neighborhoods, resuscitating urban commercial corridors and to development that is sensitive to the natural environment, historical detail, and community cultures. With a strong portfolio of over 40 architectural design projects and 50 successfully managed renovation/ new construction projects; Kanesha is distinguished by her ample knowledge of design and construction coupled with over a decade of community engagement and advocacy.

Kanesha graduated from Hampton University with a Master of Architecture in 2012.  she strategically planned her career path to encompass gaining the experience needed to qualify to take the architectural registration exam and construction manager certification.  In 2016 she was recruited to join the University of Maryland’s Planning and Construction department. Her 5-year employment at UMD concluded with the completion of 121M in educational renovations and new construction projects. 

In 2020 Kanesha combined her talents, technical skill, and passion into a new venture. Equipped with ten years of architectural, urban design and development experience, seven years of project management experience, and affiliations with numerous community organizations. She returned to the development industry as a development project manager for a local Public Housing Authority.  There she created and implemented robust community engagement plans, crafted to empowering and uplift residents into civic engagement and community leadership opportunities.
