The NVAR Government Affairs Team develops a Legislative Agenda to guide the Association in the legislative and regulatory arenas. We advocate for policy positions to protect the industry from harmful legislation that would erode private property rights, increase the costs of real estate transactions or place excessive regulations on home owners and buyers, among others.

The REALTOR® Code of Ethics encourages best practices for all Realtors® today. The Code isn’t just words on a page, but a pledge of honesty, integrity, professionalism, and community service. The Code exists as a helpful resource and guide for working with consumers, the public, and other Realtors®. Above all, the Code enhances the Realtor® brand by setting the standard for ethics and professionalism. 

Real estate professionals and consumers depend on strong fair housing laws and practices for our communities and economy to thrive. NVAR is committed to Fair Housing through policy advocacy, innovative programming, legal guidance, and more.

The Northern Virginia Association of Realtors® (NVAR) is a premier local association. NVAR is one of the hundreds of associations that comprise the National Association of REALTORS®, which boasts more than 1 million members. NVAR is among the largest local Realtor® associations nationwide.

The Northern Virginia Realtors® Political Action Committee (NVRPAC) is the critical political engine that transforms advocacy from conversation to concrete action. As the dedicated political fundraising and support arm of the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors®, NVRPAC plays a pivotal role in protecting and advancing the interests of real estate professionals and property owners. 

The Virginia REALTORS® is a state chapter of the National Association of REALTORS® and is comprised of 28 local associations.
