Bright MLS Updates — Coming Late July

On July 22, Bright MLS will be launching several important updates to their system and processes for when listings are entered.    


Listing Entry Deadline & Status Change

Current Listing Entry: Currently, a listing must be entered within two calendar days of the start of the Listing Term. The Listing Term is a designated date, at any time after the agreement is signed, when the public can first begin learning about the property

New Listing Entry: On July 22, the new deadline to enter listings in to Bright is two (2) calendar days from the time the agreement is fully executed (client and broker signatures). 

When entering the listing, there will be an additional Listing Status Category to choose:

Registered: For properties not yet ready to market or publicly advertise in any way. This status would be used for listings signed early, for future on the market dates.

Ready To Market: This is for properties that will be publicly marketed. After “Ready to Market” is selected, one of the following statuses would be chosen:  “Active”, “Coming Soon” or “Office Exclusive” status.


Seller Authorizations

Current Authorizations: Bright has three items a seller must authorize related to internet marketing. These authorizations are for display of property address, display of unedited comments on consumer sites, and availability of automated valuation models. 

New Authorizations: On July 22, Bright will be adding four additional authorizations :

  1. Display of Price
  2. Display of Price History
  3. Display of Days on Site
  4. Removal of Media (photos, tours, etc) in Closed Status.

IMPORTANT: Bright will be honoring a grace period for it’s users to comply with the Listing Entry dates. NVAR Staff and the Standard Forms Committee are reviewing the impact of these changes to our forms and will be updating accordingly. Agents should be discussing these new terms with their clients at the time the listing agreement is signed, regardless of updated forms being available.
