On January 29, 2026, NVAR hosted its annual Realtor® Lobby Day, bringing members to Richmond, Virginia, for a full day at the State Capitol. This yearly tradition gives Realtors® a unique opportunity to engage directly with elected officials and participate in conversations about housing legislation and policies affecting their business.
This year’s event featured an impressive lineup of speakers from Virginia REALTORS® (VAR), who provided insights on the bills and issues they are tracking. Attendees heard from VAR President Curt Reichstetter, VAR CEO Rick Lugg, Senior Vice President of Government Relations Mary Lawson, and Senior Vice President of Legal Operations & Legislative Counsel Erin Kormann. From data center regulations to septic system laws, VAR works to ensure Realtors® have a seat at the table and that legislation supports the housing industry.
In addition to VAR leadership, participants met with several elected officials, including House Delegates Elizabeth Bennet Parker (District 5), Garrett McGuire (District 17), Josh Thomas (District 21), Michael J. Webert (District 61), and Adele Y. McClure (District 2). Members also connected with Secretary of Transportation Nick M. Donahue, Secretary of Commerce and Trade Carrie Chenery, and Secretary of Natural and Historic Resources David L. Bulova.
Attendees were able to ask questions, share their perspectives, and discuss the issues that matter most to Realtors®. It was a day of meaningful engagement, reminding us of the privilege and responsibility we have to participate in our state’s legislative process.
2026 NVAR Realtor® Lobby Day was not just a chance to learn — it was a chance to raise voices, make connections, and help shape the policies that affect housing and real estate in Virginia.
