Celebrate Earth Day with NVAR

04/22/2021

One Earth, one place to call home and one lifetime to do all we can for it.

Happy Earth Day! The Northern Virginia Association of Realtors® (NVAR) recognizes the importance of environmental sustainability and the “Restore Our Earth” initiative. This initiative reminds us of future opportunities to conserve energy and the global push to spread climate literacy.

NVAR is proud to be a paperless organization while operating from a LEED-certified green building. Here are some ways NVAR is recognizing Earth Day:

  • Lockbox Battery Recycle Drop Off

Lockbox batteries can pile up, and rather than letting them add to landfills, NVAR is taking initiative and recycling these used batteries

  • Employee “Meatless Thursday” to reflect upon ways to become more environmentally conscious
  • Members joining us for today's board meeting were provided with small plants to promote green living
  • Promoting the use of reusable drinkware for employees and members to help reduce waste

The Earth is worth saving every day of the year; NVAR has partnered with 10+ environmental service providers to help maintain a safe, clean and sanitary environment. We encourage you to read more about how these service providers can elevate your business, and check out this great How to Celebrate Earth Day post by 1-800-GotJunk.

Aside from what NVAR is doing, there are over 51 ways you can Restore Our Earth from home! Here are 6 easy ways to get started, including instructions on how to start a garden:

      • Or you can create a garden specifically as a source of food for the animals!
    • Water, water and then water again
  1. Support your local farmer's market.
