Multiple Listing Services (MLSs) are private databases that are created, maintained and paid for by real estate professionals to help their clients buy and sell property. Bright MLS is the name of the Multiple Listing Service for Northern Virginia. Bright MLS provides subscribers with access to listing information for a larger geographic area, modern, easy-to-use systems and apps to serve your clients and run your business, and a comprehensive ecosystem of robust property information and analytics.

Bright Off-MLS Policy Resource Guide

UPDATED 4/22/2020: In accordance with NAR's Clear Cooperation Policy 8.0, Bright MLS has updated its guidance on the Office Exclusive Policy. Office Exclusive Listings may not be Publicly Marketed. Any listings that are Publicly Marketed must be entered into the MLS within one (1) business day of Public Marketing. "Public Marketing" specifically means any communication with any real estate agents or members of the public outside of the listing brokerage firm, including one-to-one communications, emails, phone calls, text, social media and online posts.

Bright MLS: Client Portal

All NVAR members get access the Bright MLS as one of their many member benefits. In turn this is a benefit to NVAR member’s clients because of the Client Portal feature within Bright MLS. The Client Portal is a personalized space where clients can view listing information and provide instant feedback. By utilizing the Client Portal members can collaborate with their clients.

Client Portal allows for custom search options, activity notifications, and branded constant information. It also allows clients to view listings, documents, and other important information that gets sent to them.



Giving clients the ability to run their own searches makes it easy for them to get the most up-to-date and accurate information. Realtors® can see everything a client does in the portal which allows them more insight into what their client might be looking for. You can be choose to be notified of activity happening in the Client Portal through text or email.
