The NVAR Government Affairs department likes to say: “While you are hard at work…who is watching out for you?” This is true during the Virginia General Assembly session in Richmond, in the halls of the County Government Center and City Hall, and during the interim when those legislative bodies are not even meeting. That’s because the business of government never stops.
It is this time of year when local governments, chambers of commerce, and other groups are finalizing their lists of issues to take to the General Assembly. NVAR staff is reviewing these draft legislative agendas for issues impacting the real estate industry.
Over the past few weeks NVAR staff and volunteer members have been meeting with state legislators in advance of the 2019 General Assembly session. These meetings afford us an opportunity build relationships, to learn what the legislators are planning to work on in the session, and to lay the groundwork for advocating on behalf of the REALTORS®
In addition to these relationship-building efforts, NVAR provides many diverse opportunities for members to engage in Public Policy and interact with elected officials including the recent Politics & Pancakes Breakfast. See the full album here.
