2008: The Realtor® Party: Proud, Professional, Pro
Our New Year represents a new beginning, and I am excited about the year ahead.
I want to thank Luis A. Lama, our 2007 Chairman of the Board, for his dedication, hard work and leadership. We are proud of NVAR’s progress during 2007 and will maintain this forward momentum.
As individuals, we may be Republicans, Democrats, or Independents, but as a group, we are the Realtor® Party – the voice for real estate and service in our communities. We must focus on the fact that we are, at our core, citizens of the United States.
Most of all, we must continue to be “pro” on many levels and in many ways:
We are pro education – Not only do we continually update our skills as Realtors® through courses, seminars and networking , but we should reach out to students at all educational levels with our time, talent and treasure.
We are pro home ownership. Realtors® at the national, state and local levels protect property rights and keep a close eye on legislation related to real estate! We also work with qualified buyers to achieve the American dream of owning their own homes and businesses. No matter what your heritage or beliefs, I challenge you to work together as Realtors to make the American dream a reality for all.
We are pro politics. I challenge each of you to get involved politically at the national, state and local levels. When there is a “Call to Action,” be the first to respond! Support the Northern Virginia/ Realtors® Political Action Committee. This non-partisan group of thousands of area Realtors® invests in our industry’s long-term health. Through your contributions, NV/RPAC works to elect candidates that best represent Realtors® and Realtor® issues.
We are optimistic. We must make a daily choice to bring optimism into our lives, our workplace and our world.
Finally, I urge you to participate in NVAR events and committees this New Year. Your success is our success. NVAR is at your service. Take time each day to check the NVAR Web site and weekly e-mail for updates. Keep in touch!!!
Jane A. Quill
