Media Invitation:
The Northern Virginia Association of Realtors® To Break Ground
On Its Fairfax Headquarters With LEED Certification

Fairfax, VA – The Northern Virginia Association of Realtors®’ Chairman of the Board Susan Mekenney and Chief Executive Officer Christine M. Todd invite reporters who cover Northern Virginia real estate and business to attend the Monday May 4, 2009 groundbreaking ceremony at 4 p.m. The event will take place behind NVAR’s current location at 8403 Arlington Blvd. in Fairfax.

Reporters are invited to attend the reception, immediately following, in the first floor boardroom of NVAR’s current office building. An architectural rendering of the new building, which features nearly 24,000 square-feet of space and two-level covered parking, will be on display.

“NVAR is finally prepared to start construction on its new headquarters,” said Mekenney. “The building will be a state-of-the-art, three-floor LEED-Certified office.

“Taking advantage of the historically low interest rates and value-priced construction proposals that are a part of today’s business climate, the NVAR leadership is excited to add our new headquarters to Fairfax County’s landscape,” Mekenney said. “We plan to move in next summer as we continue to serve our membership, the community and those interested in our education classes for many years to come. We hope that you join us.”

LEED is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
